Ath, I need help here. I agree we do not want to go "falling into the sin of despair" (nor the whirlwind of rants and ranting). And isn't the reason why we don't despair or turn into nihilist is due to Christ Jesus and the grace of faith?

While what we are going through is just another crisis, as Christ says, He will come like a theif in the night. Souls are at stake. We can't just write this off as "just another crisis".
The line between the prophetic word of warning and despair is a very fine line indeed. As with this post-Christian society and the receding and/or relativistic faith we will experience more and more of our families and friends having trouble making the distinction between the prophetic word and despair/nihilism.
So I think that Sherry's post is very good to keep in mind yet mrteachersir has the prespective that I believe is most accurate. With that said I get alarmed at how many of my family and friends simply "fall into the sin of despair".
"All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."
