'Mr. President, Whose Side are You On?'

From my home state, Representative Mike Pence asks: "Mr. President, whose side are you on?"
"By their fruits shall you know them."
- Jesus Our Lord (Mt 7,16)

Fighting Back

The Vigil (1884) - John Pettie

Let me be as clear as possible: the attacks by the mainstream media are not mere efforts at good, solid "investigative journalism" as some claim, even from within the Church. As the Holy Father himself said, there are stronger and more insidious forces at work here. Those forces apparently don't break through into our plane of existence, but they can influence us for good or ill. At our most susceptible, we are finger puppets to the powers and principalities.

I will go further: I suspect that some within the Church herself have, shall we say, "authority issues" with bishops and hierarchical figures and as such have a secret (or not so secret) hankering to see episcopal figures get theirs. I won't accuse; I have my own sin-sickness issues. But I will warn that nothing good will come of this kind of wanting to see those with whom some feel model/rivalry knocked down a peg or two. Let those without sin cast the first stone.

But, and I mean this with all charity possible, the Catholic Church is not knocked back on her heels and staggering, by any means. From the secular power and authority of the Oval Office (sans a Winston Churchill bust that was sent packing as I Wun entered) to the editorial offices of the NYT and WaPo, to the screenwriters of such films as Kingdom of Heaven, King Arthur, and Agora, a steady and non-stop effort to castigate the credibility of the Holy Catholic Church in particular and the Christian faith in general is going apace.

It is time for all good souls to engage in fierce and committed Marian chivalry, engaging with the theological virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity. If not you, who will do it? If not now, when?

Millais PRB

Message from the Sea - John Everett Millais

Singer - Neuter and Party On, Wayne

Just when I thought C. S. Lewis's provocative and prescient book, That Hideous Strength, couldn't possibly become more prophetic, Princeton "ethicist" and "philosopher", Peter Singer gives grist for the mill of satanic delight: ‘Why Not Sterilize the Human Race and Party into Extinction?’

Entering the New Dark Ages

This sums things up pretty well for me regarding the "Cordoba House" mosque at Ground Zero.

If you disagree, you probably are in the camp of those who think that Israel is evil.

The Scimitar's god, SJS, and Command '66'

Like "forgetting" the Doctrine of Original Sin when dealing with any living, breathing human being, it is absurd to disregard the principle of taqiyya when dealing with any member of the Scimitar.

This is not to accuse all members of the Scimitar of deception; rather, it is to say that any member of the Scimitar may plea taqiyya at any time for the reason of justifying his or her actions for the benefit of the Scimitar.

And do not forget what Daniel Pipes aptly calls Sudden Jihad Syndrome - what I call Command '66' from 'Revenge of the Sith.'

Most apropos, however, are the words of Simone Weil:

“God has provided that when his grace penetrates to the very center of a person and from there illuminates all his being, he is able to walk on water without violating any of the laws of nature. When, however, a man turns away from God he simply gives himself up to the law of gravity. Then he thinks he can decide and choose, but he is only a thing, a stone, that falls.”

Such are all those who, regardless of their claim to the "revelations" of the "Prophet", succumb to the primitive sacred (Girard) and the dark gods of blood. Theirs is not the true God revealed by Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Their god is, in the parlance of C. S. Lewis, the bloodthirsty deity Tash.

UPDATE: This is downright fascinating. God bless and keep the soul of Bishop Padovese. Requiescat in pace. +

True, Beauty, and A. W. N. Pugin

When you get finished reading RĂ©gine Pernoud's masterful Those Terrible Middle Ages you will understand better the polemical and architectural viewpoint of A. W. N. Pugin.

Pugin raged against all things Classical (Pernoud as an world-class historian will explain). I can't argue. I can only admire Pugin's breathtaking expressions of truth, goodness, and beauty.

Functional Dhimmitude, etc.

Did you happen to see this in this news this evening?

How well was it covered? Why (choose one):

1) News crews stuck in traffic.
2) Bigger stories going on.
3) Don't ask. Don't tell.
4) Would like gasoline for our cars next month.
5) A sheik might stop paying BP to keep Gulk leak flowing.

UPDATE: Patrick Archbold keeps the hilarity afloat with I Want a Peace Boat to Mecca.

Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

While this is a bit ridiculous at first glance, it typifies the way that the Last Self-Help Administration gets things done: an innuendo here, a nudge there. Never a trail that will deeply implicate .. yet.

In fact, it is of a piece with all those who depend solely on worldly power: out-think, out-maneuver their rival - at any cost. Wrong-doing? Illegality? Whatever it takes. They act innocent until they are caught, like ridiculous little boys denying everything with jam smeared on their hands and faces. Then, absurdly, they smile all the more and deny all the more.

There is a better world. A better realm. Thank God.
