Love in the Ruins is the title of my favorite Walker Percy novel. Those of you who have read it know that Percy, a Catholic convert, is a master of depicting good characterizations of bad Catholics. The subtitle indeed is: The Adventures of a Bad Catholic at a Time Near the End of the World.
Did Percy know of Burne-Jones' painting and Browning’s poem? A silly question, of course. But Percy is also a master of fictionalizing the philosophical underpinnings of a culture. Would that he had read René Girard!
For my feeble attempt to write in the spirit of Walker Percy of the neo-pagan recrudescence in the West, you may purchase The Dionysus Mandate through Amazon or Barnes and Noble on-line.
My nom de plume is 'Walker Hunt Golding.' Any takers on who the authors are I am trying to honor?
