Gil Bailie, founder and president of the Cornerstone Forum, is in my opinion the finest explicator of the anthropological works of René Girard. The journal Communio published a two-part essay by Bailie that helps one starting out in studying Girard's "mimetic theory." Here is part one, Violence and the Sacred - Rene Girard's Insights into Christianity.
With a copy of Catechism of the Catholic Church in one hand, the Bible in the other, and an understanding of Girard, one is about as ready to understand the problems facing the world as one can hope to be.
