Shrine of the Holy Whapping looks at the ways of death and matter as if it mattered here. David P. Lang's Why Matter Matters covers some of these matters (sorry) too, and shows how much most of us have been raised to be quasi-Gnostics. And Father Z's superb The Bones of Augustine is a must read.
