What Took Them So Long

Dear Ath,

After reading this article, and the 2 other related articles, I wonder if anyone outside the Church cares, and how many common folks sitting in the pews care? The reporters did not indicate what possible reaction, if any, government officials will have about the report. Does the Church of England really expect to get any of the report's suggestions? Does the CoE have any real clout with the government anymore - I don't know?

There are a slew of good folk in England, like Cat and David at Brits at Their Best who care a great deal about what the C of E finally expressed.

Largely, they feel betrayed by England's government not representing them in joining the vast EU, for reasons similar to those to which I allude here: distrust of commissars and mandarins who lord it over peoples with no accountability, the throwing away of national self rule, the secularization and islamization of the once Christian West (twin pincers of the primitive Sacred - altho' they don't put it THAT way!).

Personally, I think England has slid too far to regain equilibrium either epistemologically or ontologically - say, since 1605 and the Gunpowder Plot. But I refuse to fall into despair. May the Lord raise up good and faithful leaders.

And, after all, we have our hands full trying to uplift the Culture of Life in THIS election season...

Yes, Ath, my sentiments exactly and why my question/thought above -it seems that this turn around by the CoE about what the government does or does not do happens a bit late for anyone in government to raise up and care. I pray though that they will care and take action.
